Pearl District Business Association Portland, Oregon
Scarlett Marketing, Inc. managed all marketing, member services, advertising, public relations and promotions for the Pearl District from 2007 through 2011. The Pearl District is comprised of 100 city blocks in downtown Portland and attracts more than 1 million visitors a year and is a global model of urban renewal. A thriving example of live, work and play space the Pearl has developed an extremely successful brand. Scarlett Marketing re-designed and re-launched the ExploreThePearl.com website, integrated social media and developed a wide range of promotions around member needs (retail, food & beverage, home furnishings, art, health + wellness & spa services and financial services). During Scarlett Marketing’s tenure more members were secured than ever before, sponsorship reached record levels and membership retention increased during the 2009-2010 recession. Today, the branding success of the Pearl can largely be attributed to Scarlett Marketing’s efforts. In 2011, Joshua Ryan, Principal of Scarlett Marketing, was recognized for “Outstanding Community Building” by NW Examiner Newspaper.
For three years, Scarlett Marketing has worked actively as part of Coast Hotels USA marketing, advertising, public relations, social media, and promotions team. Our work for The Benson Hotel, Paramount Hotels (Seattle and Portland), Coast Maui Hotel, The Roosevelt Hotel Seattle, Coast Gateway and Coast Wenatchee Hotel has improved branding, bottom line performance and provided a significant return on investment. Many of the Coast Hotels also manage and operate restaurants. Scarlett Marketing has rebranded The Rivertop Bar & Grill in Wenatchee and is in the process of rebranding Dragonfish at the Portland Paramount Hotel. Affordable, focused, results-oriented work is our hallmark and the success of these hotels bears that out.
Scarlett Marketing owns and produces Portland Erotic Ball and Portland Freak Boutique – two very successful events. The Portland Erotic Ball is the biggest Halloween party in Portland and has been for 13 years! Since the popularity of these two events has grown – Scarlett Marketing now produces similar events in Seattle, Phoenix, Hollywood and San Diego. This is another example of taking an apparently “provocative” brand and making it female friendly, safe and achieving mainstream success.
Masterpark is the leading parking purveyor (controlling up to 60% market share) at SeaTac Airport in Seattle. Scarlett Marketing has modernized their brand to keep it experientially focused, successfully incorporate social media into their online marketing strategy and developed community-based promotions to build Masterpark’s reputation as an engaged member of the SeaTac community. Scarlett Marketing also helped open Masterpark’s newest self-parking lot called MPark.
Fantasy is the leading adult retailer in the Portland Metro Area with 5 areas locations – and 2 stores in Montana. We’ve navigated them away from traditional “dirty book store” branding to female friendly boutique and fashion focused merchandisers. The result? Every other competitor in the market has sold or closed stores and downsized while Fantasy has gained market share and posted record sales this Halloween and Holiday Season. In 2012, they will be opening their sixth retail location. By treating this brand as a mainstream brand and refocusing colors, imagery and utilizing a new website and social media to promote specials, create fun, interactive blogs – Fantasy is in their strongest position every to grow and thrive in a tight economy.
The Manor is a stunning wedding and special events facility located in Everett, Washington. The brand had an very dated website and no current branding, logo or corporate graphics package. Scarlett Marketing changed all that with a much more female-friendly design aesthetic, great use of beautiful images and a simple to navigate website. Sales have increased and this 32-year old brand is re-invented and contemporary!
Pike & Pine Street Business Association
Seattle, Washington
Scarlett Marketing, Inc. under funding from Coast Hotels founded the Pike & Pine Street Business Association in 2011. In cooperation with the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) and the Seattle Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB), Pike & Pine Street was tasked with helping market the neighborhood between Pike Place Market to 9th Avenue along Pike and Pine Streets – the retail core of downtown Seattle. Our most significant achievement was creating a logo and working with canvassing organizations to reduce aggressive canvassing and panhandling – this was something the City of Seattle, Police Department, DSA and SCVB were unable to achieve for years both legislatively and politically. Scarlett Marketing succeeded where others failed through detailed community work, careful diplomacy and dogged determination. Today, canvassers have adopted a new Code of Conduct which has improved guest experience and created greater harmony for retailers, restaurants and the entire neighborhood. Scarlett Marketing is now advising similar Associations in Atlanta and Minneapolis on how to implement similar programs.
